Movies with a Message Hacksaw Ridge Monday, June 12

This film will be shown at 1:00 pm on Monday, June 12 and  is based on the true story of a soldier who goes to war in World War II without a weapon.  Private Desmond Doss was drafted in 1942, but because of his faith, he refused to kill anyone or carry a weapon.  He spent his time at war as a medic, rescuing injured solders, at great risk of harm to himself.  Doss spent much time in prayer and reading his Bible.

Director Mel Gibson underscored the power of prayer in Doss' success.  "This man existed, he was a man of faith and conviction, never fired a bullet and got the Medal of Honor for extraordinary feats that he could only have achieved through the power of God."

Note that this movie is rated R for graphic scenes of war violence.  Running time is 139 minutes.  All are invited to this free movie and tickets are not required.
